Our Texas Longhorn journey began in 2021 when friends invited us to attend the renowned Red McCombs Fiesta Sale. We were simply looking forward to enjoying the Texas Hill Country, sharing a few glasses of wine with friends, and taking in the experience—with absolutely NO intention of buying a cow!
Little did we know ... From the moment we stepped into the sale arena, we were captivated by the beauty, history, and uniqueness of the Texas Longhorn breed. What started as curiosity quickly became a passion, and within our first year, our herd had grown to more than 20 head. Six years later, we have doubled that number and every cow we purchased had a story (came from an elite program or well-known breeder) and was carefully selected based on our core standards: horn potential, structural correctness, body conformation, pedigree, and proven progeny. We believed our foundation herd would be the most important investment in establishing our brand and setting the standard for the quality we strive to produce today.
We believe quality cattle are built through patience, discipline, and a long-term commitment to genetic excellence. While horn growth remains an important part of our program, our focus extends far beyond horn measurements. We strive to produce complete cattle that excel in conformation, maternal strength, disposition, eye appeal, productivity, and stacked pedigrees that stand the test of time.
Our breeding program is designed with the goal of producing cattle capable of reaching 80"+ TTT and beyond, while maintaining the complete package that serious breeders value.
We continually invest in proven genetics that strengthen both our herd and the success of our customers for generations to come. As proud members of both the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America (TLBAA) and the International Texas Longhorn Association (ITLA), we remain committed to preserving and advancing this remarkable breed.
Every animal carrying the Ramsey Longhorns brand represents our commitment to quality, integrity, and continuous improvement. We are passionate about Texas Longhorns, grateful for the friendships this industry has brought into our lives, and excited to share that passion with others.
Whether you're an experienced breeder, a first-time buyer, or simply interested in learning more about Texas Longhorns, we invite you to visit the ranch located in the rolling countryside of Palo Pinto County, Texas.
Come walk through the herd, study the genetics, and experience these incredible cattle firsthand. We enjoy meeting fellow Longhorn enthusiasts, sharing what we've learned, and helping others find the right cow, heifer, bull, or steer to fit their goals.
We believe the best way to appreciate the Texas Longhorn breed is to experience it in person—and we'd love the opportunity to welcome you to Ramsey Longhorns and the ranch.
